Youth Club suffer Minibus Arson Attack - 4th November 2009
A MINIBUS, which was used by Bolton Lads & Girls Club to take disadvantaged youngsters and children to sports and social events, was set alight at the weekend.
The club holds youth sessions at a community centre near Heywood Park every Friday and Saturday.
Yobs left a trail of destruction at a play area in Great Lever close to where the £22,000 bus had been parked.
Now staff and volunteers are trying to find alternative transport in time for this weekend's activities.
Fire crews were called to the park on four occasions as a gang of yobs set fire to play equipment, wheelie bins and the soft floor of the play area.
The most serious incident involved the minibus.
Police are investigating and have vowed to do everything possible to find those responsible. They had been spoken to by the fire-fighters about their behaviour earlier in the night.
